The calendar pages are quickly turning! I cannot believe October is here and with it, a cooler season. Summer is behind us and we prepare for a significant change in our surroundings and our life. I always marvel at how the seasonal changes impact my life. One of these changes that I notice the most is the shorter daylight time. And, of course, dusting off sweaters and jackets and bringing blankets out of storage.
I am always asking people for support in helping us with our needs. I see them in contrast with the “darkness” of poverty and desperation of so many of the folks with whom we work. They are a kind of “daylight” to me. They bring rays of sunshine to so many people.
Can we count on your to be a ray of sunshine to the poor and needy, those less fortunate than we? Feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless is very Franciscan, and it is what we do! Benefactors are an important part of our life and ministry. We can only be among the poor when folks like you partner with us in serving them.
Your gift of $100, $75 or $50 - or any amount – would be a great blessing to us. We will use your gift well, I promise. I pray daily that you will receive an abundance of blessings because of your generosity and goodness. May the Lord give you peace!
