Is it still necessary  to ask the bride's father for permission to marry his daughter? My thoughts are that it couldn't hurt to do so, but is it necessary?

Steve W  -Memphis

Dear Steve

Traditionally, in accordance with social etiquette, it was proper to ask the bride's father for permission to marry his daughter. Today, now that women have more independent roles in society, this custom has relaxed slightly and is no longer 'mandatory'. However, it remains a charming tradition and is undoubtedly a wonderful show of respect. You are certainly likely to capture the hearts of the bride's family with this time honored gesture. Therefore, if it is something that makes you very uneasy, don't feel that you must force yourself, but if you are comfortable with the idea, it remains a wonderful thing to do.

The photographer we used doesn't provide the polished albums --
How can I find the nice photo albums that other photographers provide?

Linda H  -Memphis

Hi Linda,

Some photographers mark up their albums 300% or more. That is why their packages are so expensive. Beautiful albums can be purchased on EBay simply by searching for "professional wedding photo albums." They are very reasonable and this is where most photographers buy their albums as well. Or just simply search for professional wedding albums on the internet.

In today's poor economy, photographers who do not include albums with their packages, will save their clients a tremendous amount of money. You get the same quality professional photography as the "over-priced expensive photographers" at a fraction of the cost. The most expensive does not always mean "the best".

We have found that most Brides and parents would rather put their own album together with the pictures they choose. These clients will save an extra $1,000 - $2,000 off the expensive packages that some photographers offer.
Happy album hunting!
