The Justice of the Peace "Elopement Special" Is a simple exchange of vows, and rings, if you have them, and filing of paperwork, with the state, after the event.
This is a quick, and casual, alternative to being married in front of a group of people.
This service is available by appointment, Monday - Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM The cost is $100, and must be paid in cash. After hours, or Saturday appointments are available for $150 (Subject to availability)
PLEASE NOTE: This is a simple legalization of your marriage.
Its great for those who simply want to become legally married, in quiet, and tasteful surroundings, in the heart of East Memphis
Dress formally if you like, but jeans and casual clothes are just fine! No dress code here.
The Elopement Special is normally performed with just the bride and groom.
You will NOT need a witness If you are accompanied by guests, you are limited to no more than four.

To obtain a marriage license in Shelby County,Tennessee both parties must appear in person. The age requirement in Tennessee is as follows:
Over 20...Picture ID 18-20..... A Certified Birth Certificate Under 18...Contact the license office for more information. The license fee is $37.50 or $97.50 for ALL APPLICANTS, (depending on whether or not you have had premarital counseling, from an accredited Tennessee course provider.)
Being a Tennessee Resident is NOT required.
Your Tennessee license is good for 30 days prior to your marriage. You can obtain your license in The downtown area at:
